Can I apply for the First Home Owners Grant if I have previously owned a property which was then sold?

Unfortunately as the current rules stand with regard to the First Home Owners Grant (FHOG), you are unable to receive a second grant. This means if any perspective owner has had equity in any residential property that they have occupied then they are ineligible for the grant.

If in the event of a "typical couples" situation, if only one partner had property previously then the other party may be eligible if the property is solely in that name.

The opportunities that seem to be available in this buyers market should make the FHOG a secondary consideration and discussion with Your Local Finance Broker will help to determine if you can take advantage of these opportunities by helping you find the best finance for you.

This automated eligibility test will show if you qualify for the First Home Owners Grant.
